Established in 1987, Metropolitan College
was the first private college in Malaysia
to pioneer twinning programmes with
overseas universities to provide world class
business degree programmes to both local
and international students. Collaboration with
internationally recognized universities namely
RMIT University in Melbourne and Curtin
University of Technology in Perth has made
Metropolitan College one of the favorite
among the students in business studies. Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University's long-standing relationship with Metropolitan College can be traced bock to 1987. This relationship is built on a strong foundation of quality. The University itself is well known for it's excellence internationally. RMIT University offers the Bachelor of Business in Accountancy and Economics & Finance with Metropolitan College. These are 3+0 programmes where students can study locally and yet receive the same quality education as those who are in Melbourne, Australia. Curtin University of Technology has been in partnership with Metropolitan College since 1993, The University is well known for its programmes which centre on the provision of knowledge and skills that meet the industry and workplace needs. Through Metropolitan College, the University offers 3+0 business degrees in Accounting & Finance, Economics & Marketing, Finance & Marketing, Marketing, and Management & Marketing. There are also many more 1+2 and 2+1 options for students to choose from. In the recent world top 200 universities listing by The Times Higher Education Supplement, RMIT University was ranked the 146th place while Curtin University of Technology was ranked the 156th place, The dedication of the partner universities to provide the best for its students was seen by the presence of the many visiting lecturers at Metropolitan College. Experienced lecturers were flew in every semester to conduct part of the programmes syllabus at Metropolitan College. This kind of teaching approach makes learning enriching. It also gives students a fore taste of the learning culture in the university campus when they transfer to Australia later. The syllabus taught at Metropolitan College is the same as that taught in Australia. Students can be assured that they are receiving the best. Metropolitan College emphasizes on small group learning. This ensures that every student receives the necessary guidance from lecturers. Apart from degree programmes, the College also offers its very own business-oriented University Foundation Program (UFP). This is a one year foundation programme designed for students who intend to pursue a business degree with RMIT University or Curtin University of Technology Students who have completed SPM are welcome to join the programme. |
Academic
Facilities Apart from providing quality education, the College also ensures a comfortable college campus, giving students a place conducive for learning. With the capacity for 1,500 students, the campus comprises three blocks of buildings linked by a spacious Concourse, which is the perfect rest and relax area for students. Through the wireless internet system, students can access to the cyber world in any part of the College. Students can also access the College intranet and the partner university's exclusive academic portal for a wide range of information and learning resources. There are also notebook facilities available. Students can find a wide range of literature ranging from journals, reference books, magazines, both local and Australia dailies and CD-Roms in the library. The College Student Affairs Department also provides services that cater to both local and international students ensuring that their basic needs are taken care off. |
Scholarships / Financial Aid To make education accessible, the College has allocated a wide range of full scholarships and partial scholarship for deserving students. Among the full scholarships are the University Foundation Program (UFP) Full Scholarship, Curtin University of Technology Full Scholarship, RMIT University Programme Full Scholarship, RMIT 3+0 Programme Star Education Fund, Curtin 3+0 Programme Star Education Fund, UFP Sin Chew Education fund, RMIT 3+0 Programme Sin Chew Education Fund, Curtin 3+0 Programme Sin Chew Education Fund, UFP Nanyang Talent Scholarship. RMIT 3+0 Programme Nanyang Talent Scholarship, Curtin 3+0 Programme Nanyang Talent Scholarship and Curtin Alumni Scholarship; Partial scholarships for talents include The Prefect Scholarship, The Artiste Scholarship, The Cheerleader Scholarship and the seventeen Writer's Scholarship; Awards given include the RMIT Pro-Vice Chancellor Award, Curtin Merit Award and the SPM Academic Excellence Award; finally, rebates given include the National Service Rebate and Siblings Loyalty Scheme. |
