DESIGN PROGRAMMES AVAILABLE IN MALAYSIA

The National Craft Institute (IKN) satellite campus in Kota Belud expand craft skills training among youth in Sabah.

The campus aimed at increasing youth participation in the field of craft through formal and flexible education and skills training besides providing a life-long learning programme.

The satellite campus was offering the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) programmes in the field of craft to youth aged between 18 and 35, using the National Occupational Skills Standard (NOSS).

The programme offered at the main campus in Kota Belud was the Songket and Dastar SKM (Level Three), while the Rattan Craft SKM (Level Three) was being offered at the mini campus in Inanam, with the field of study also covers communications, language, management, entrepreneurship and security skills.

Sabah IKN satellite campus currently housed 18 students of the September 2020 intake, namely the pioneer group who would undergo a full-time programme for two years, comprising various ethnicities such as Bajau, Iranun, Dusun and Murut.

DESIGN PROGRAMMES AVAILABLE IN MALAYSIA
There are Design Programmes ranging from Certificate to Masters Degree available in Malaysia. The most available qualification for design is Diploma in Design with a total of 91 programmes for a student to choose from. The highest one can reach is Master Degree and only 1 programme is available. After this, no Doctoral Degree is available in Malaysia.

These Design Programmes are offer from both Private and Public (Government) Institutions.

Sabah students may have little choice in Sabah as only 1 Institution in Sabah with only 3 Diploma to choose from. See List of Colleges in Sabah
