Fireworks is part of  Spring Festival celebrations,  exploding firecrackers mark the beginning of a new Luna Year of Pig.

People enjoy the crowds and fireworks, even if they don't really understand the traditions very deeply. There is some confusion about what the holiday means and why the date changes every year, but overall, people are intrigued by it

While the old generations still go through all of the rituals of cleaning and decorating the home, preparing delicious food, visiting relatives and worshiping ancestors, the young  siblings only visit their parents for the Chinese New Year Eve dinner.

Old people think the Spring Festival means new clothes, firecrackers and delicious 'niangao'  New Year cakes made of sticky rice, but the young generation take it as an opportunity to relax or travel.  Some young people don't celebrate with as many colorful decorations as before, but that's not a way to measure how important a holiday is. Chinese are doing well in economy and life is getting better but stressful. They need the psychological comfort of a family reunion during traditional festivals.
