UCTS is a university college set to become a world-class institution in Sibu.
This is the first university in Malaysia awarded with the Green Building Index platinum award based on its green innovation.

The University College of Technology Sarawak is sitting on a 90-acre plot next to Laila Taib College.
Research on innovative technology will be carried out here with the entrepreneurs’ involvement.
The institution would support research and development activities in academic areas to put Sibu on the world map.

This higher education programme will support Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) in human capital development.

Why "University College"
Although UCTS was called a university college, there was no difference in what they did from what a university would do. Like a university, UCTS confer degree programmes, including Master programmes up to the PHD level; we are allowed to do research and do what any other university can do. The only reason why UCTS was called a university college was because of its size, as it would only take in up to 5,000 students in later stages.

UCTS is the culmination of the State of Sarawak's vision and commitment in establishing a world-class institution of higher learning to spearhead the development and production of technical human resource for the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).

University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) is committed to facilitating student access to an affordable world-class university education that nurtures creative and entrepreneurial leaders through a broad education in science and technology while combining the career benefits of an applied approach for Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE)-related research and career opportunities.
UCTS is the first TECHNICAL University in Sarawak. Located in Sibu, owned by the Sarawak State and have one of the most high-tech green campus in Malaysia.
University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) had its Groundbreaking Ceremony on 16th September 2012.
