The Pan Borneo Expedition is an annual 4wd overland expedition to explore the mystical island of Borneo from Dec 1st till Dec 10th, 2014
Mission
The mission of Pan Borneo Expedition over the next 5 years is to:-
1. Promote collaboration between Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia &
Philippines (BIMP-EAGA) to promote overland tourism in the island of Borneo
under the ‘Equator Asia’ brand name;
2. To design and develop overland expedition routes to circum-navigate and
cross-navigate the island of Borneo;
3. To promote the island of Borneo as a premier overland destination in the
global market;
4. To promote key destinations of significant geological, ecological, cultural
and historical importance the island of Borneo;
5. To develop and promote more community based tourism and sustainable tourism;
6. To document the experience of the Pan Borneo Expedition through photographs,
video footages and electronic documents to produce video documentaries, coffee
table books and promotional tools;
7. To invite key international personalities and media journalist to cover and
promote Pan Borneo Expedition;
8. To develop publications, maps, directories, magazines, event website and
social media presence to promote and archive the Pan Borneo Expedition
experience;
9. To develop Pan Borneo Expedition merchandise and adventure gears for souvenir
and promotion use;
10. To work with international brand names for the join promotion of Pan Borneo
Expedition.
11. To develop and attend international trade shows and exhibitions to promote
Pan Borneo Expedition; and
12. To assist and documents the challenges of cross-border vehicles and
transportation logistics, permits and license and eventually to become the
centre of information for cross border or overland tourism in the BIMP EAGA
region.
The Vision of the Pan Borneo Expedition are:-
1. To elevate and promote the ‘BIMP-EAGA’ and ‘Equator Asia’ brand name;
2. To make the island of Borneo as a premier overland and tourism destination in
the global within 10 years.
3. To make cross-border crossings, arrivals and departures for international
overland holiday makers an easy experience.
4. To develop ready information hub for international overland holiday ; and
5. To generate private sector spin-offs in the overland tourism market where
more stakeholders will invest in package tours and support services.
Description
The Pan Borneo Expedition is an annual 4wd overland expedition to explore the
mystical island of Borneo which spans over 3 Nations - Malaysia, Brunei and
Indonesia over a period of five (5) years. The Pan Borneo Expedition is thus
divided into 5 chapters. The concept of Pan Borneo Expedition is to design,
develop, implement, document and promote overland routes to circum-navigate and
cross navigate the island of Borneo over the next five (5) year period. Each
chapter comprises of an exhilarating experience designed for ten (10) days
expedition covering key destinations of significant geological, ecological,
cultural and historical importance.
Pan Borneo Expedition is a 4WD expedition and does not cover hardcore offroading
activities such as the world famous International Borneo Safari Offroad
Challenge. Participants will be treated with breathtaking views of Borneo's
geological, ecological, historical landscapes and cultures of what Borneo has to
offer to the world!
The target market is to promote overland vehicles from around the world to join
the expedition where the organizer will provide ground logistics for arrivals
and departures. Participants without vehicles will also be able to join on a
triple sharing, double sharing or single basis per vehicle.
