The Source of Hot sprint (Mata Air Panas).
The source of the hot spring is under a big dark boulder in a steaming pond.
Located just beside the open-air bath area.
This hot spring was first developed by the Japanese during World War Two. One
is able to see and use the many open air and indoor Japanese style baths
facilities. The hot water is channeled from the source where the temperature is
hot enough to boil eggs. The temperature of the water can be regulated by mixing
it with the cold water which is channeled from the nearby river.
Hot Spring Bath
Main attraction at Poring Hot Springs
The 2nd attraction of Kinabalu National Park is this Poring Hot Spring. (The 1st attraction being Mount Kinabalu). This natural spring where hot sulphurous water emits from the ground. Visitors came here to take bath in it. There are two selections of bathtub to choose from, depends on visitors needs – family or individual. It has open-air and private cabin bath with hot spring water that contains sulphur which believed to be good for skin.

wild animals such as flying lemurs, monkeys and orang utan.
In the compound are also campsite, restaurant, butterfly farms, orchid centre,
cave and waterfalls. From the entrance, visitors walk a jungle path to the hot
spring that took around 5 minutes.
Poring is just a small village near Ranau and Mount Kinabalu.
Visitors who visit Poring Hot Springs usually just go to the Canopy Walk and
then soak in the hot springs before going back. But there is much more to Poring
then just these two attractions. There is also the Butterfly Farm, Tropical
Garden, Rafflesia Garden and two waterfalls – Kipungit and Langanan.

Poring canopy walkway - 25minites walk from walkway ticket office to the canopy
starting point.
A point of attraction in Poring Hot Spring is the Canopy Walk.
Besides the hot spring, one can also explore the popular Canopy Walk. The total
distance to complete the circuit is 2 km and the Canopy Walk makes up about 200
metres of the circuit. Built some 50 m above the ground, one has to be bold and
stout hearted to do this walk as the canopy can be shaky and looks flimsy at
times. Take heart, these hanging bridges are tested everyday before they are
opened to the public.
For those who stay overnight in Poring Hot Spring, you can do a bit of jungle
trekking along the banks of a winding river. After an hour or so walk (shorter
path route), you will be able to see a 10 m waterfall. The longer path route
takes 3 hours to complete and ends with the view of a 100 m high waterfall.

Langanan Waterfall and Kipungit Watetfall
Langanan Waterfall is 120 meter height. 7 km of two ways total hike take 4-5 hour. One way takes two hours to trek to the big Langanan Waterfall.
The small Kipungit Waterfall is much more accessible. It is only a 15-minute
walk from the Canopy Walk ticket gate. 400m or 10 minutes walk from the canopy
walk ticket gate
This is the highest waterfall in Poring. It is more than 120 metres in height
and takes approximately 2 hours trekking through the lowland tropical forest
(3.4km).
During holidays when the hot springs can be crowded, and the falls is one of the
places where you can escape from the hordes of tourists.
The Kipungit Waterfall is not that high, but the waters can still look beautiful
especially after a heavy rain the night before. The waterfall is surrounded by
the tropical rainforest, and the cold, (but not icy-cold) waters is a great
place for a swim or a frolic in the waters. The pool at the foot of the falls is
not very deep (An adult can stand up above the waters), but care should still be
taken since the place is deserted at times and you will find yourself being the
only one there. It can be quite spooky then.
