Southern College, which is open to
all Malaysians and International
students, was established in 1990
as the first non-profit community college
in the country wholly funded by public
donations. The campus is located 15km from Johor Bahru and is within easy reach from Senai Airport. Academic Strengths The College provides high quality education and affordable fees in a Chinese-English bilingual environment. Students can obtain a Bachelor's Degree from the college's various partner universities in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, USA, China and Taiwan via credit transfer arrangements. Students are encouraged to take an active role in extra-curricular activities to enrich their college life, to prepare themselves to face various challenges in society and to serve the nation in future. |

Academic Facilities 4 blocks of student dormitories with well- equipped facilities and tight security Three floors of library stocked with 200,000 books, journals and audio- visual materials and a computerized system of management A Computer Centre with the latest computer facilities Three lecture halls of different sizes for various activities Wan Heong Hall and various rooms at the basement level provide ample space for cultural and students activities A football field and several basketball, tennis and volleyball courts are available for various sport activities School bus services provided Student Support Services The Student Counseling Office helps students on personal growth, self- understanding and self-discovery of one's own potential. They also help in building problem solving and social skills, organize activities such as career talks, seminars and workshops, community services, movie shows and study groups and provide information on current job vacancies. The International Office provides educational counseling services for students and establishes links with the local and foreign universities. |

Scholarships / Financial Aid The college has a scholarship scheme for freshmen. Each year, it offers over 300 scholarships valued at RM3 million (which includes full and half scholarships) to students of various Departments who have achieved excellent results in their High School examinations. There are also study grants valued at RM2,500 per annum available for needy students. Achievements Southern College has academic links with many universities in countries all over the world such as China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and United States. Through credit transfer, our Diploma graduates can further their studies in the respective universities and obtain a Bachelor's degree within nine months to two years. In September 2003, the college was granted the permission by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Domestic Affairs to recruit foreign students. The first batch of students from China has started their Diploma Studies in February 2004. In March 2007, our Diploma in Chinese Studies was approved and given the- status of full accreditation from LAN. |
