Magnificent View of Mount Kinabalu
Splendid back view of the magnificent mount Kinabalu in early morning. By mid morning, the mountain is covered by layers of clouds. Morning mountain view from this river is among the top ten best view.

The Sungai Melangkap
Shallow river with strong current. Dipping in refreshingly crystal clear cool water is a perfect place to get away from hustle busy city life.

Camp Site
A low-cost new camping site with a freshwater flown down from Mount Kinabalu. Sungai Panataran (Sungai Melankap) River has become a popular low cost family outing destination recent years.
Rental of tents and accessories are reasonable priced. Nice place for camping overnight with family and friends. Cheap and affordable. Visitors need to bring your own foods and charcoal for barbeque.
Also a good place for groups outdoor activity. This big campsite can easily accommodate 100 young adults.
Can get a bit hot around noon, but nice and cool at night.

Stargazing!
A good place for stargazing at night. A natural classroom for a lesson of astrology to the children

Holiday Crowd
If you do not like noisy and smoking crowds, do not come during school holiday seasons. Local do not come here for meditation or contemplation that this place is ideal for. They come for excitement and fun. The young men come with sufficient stock of cigarettes.

Facilities
Camping gears and barbeque equipments are available for rent at a reasonable price. You can rent BBQ grill, tents and purchase coals. Basic necessary for outdoor is provided here.
There is a kitchen, showers and toilet.
Complete facilities with a perfect attraction of nature. A good place to relax, picnic or spending time with family and friends. Can bring your own drinks. A very cold river with such a fresh water from the feet of mountain.

A place for your family to enjoy some quality moment together. Mesmerising views of mount Kinabalu, chilling river streams, wonderful night sky..


No Life Guard
There is no lifeguard by the river. So swim at your own risk. And always keep an eye on your kids in the water.
Parents with small kids remember not to let their kids take to the river by themselves. The stream current is strong on certain part. Children can easily be swept down stream.

The camp rent out safety jackets and buoyancy apparatus. The rental is not high. So get these safety jackets for the children.
 

Road Condition
Road accessibility is good. The road was sealed in 2016 and after that this Sungai Panataran River getting popular.

2015 The road was a gravel village road unknown to outside world.  And the earthquakes  of Mount Kinabalu was also happen this year.

2016 Heavy storm  water one after another began to wash down sand and rocks from  Mount Kinabalu. And in this year the government project of road upgrading for these villages begun.

2017 Adventurous young people started to come for camping on this flat basin of Sungai Panataran. The continues washing down of sand and rocks from Mount Kinabalu has flattened this low laying rice fields into a fresh clean sandy fields excellent for camping.

2018 Polumpung Melangkap has became nationally famous through an Astor TV Travel channel broadcasted Malaysia wide. Homestay and camp sites mushroom along the river. Villagers once were rice farmers are now  operators of camp sites and homestays.

Men best friend
There are dogs and cats. They eat and they do dropping. So there are certain corners of the site be careful not to step on. Even you wash and wash hard after that, your shoes will retain fragrance not attractive to your surrounding friends for many weeks.

This Polumpung Melangkap is the 2nd popular Campsite. The most popular campsite is Tegudon Tourism Village.

Tegudon Tourism Village and Polumpung Melangkap  are situated on two different roads and two different rivers. So for different experiences, you may like to camp in Tegudon after Polumpung.

Kisakot Campsite
replacing the pulled down MELANGKAP HOMESTAY

Kisakot Campsite is 2Km further up the road from Polumpung Melangkap. The original  MELANGKAP HOMESTAY was opposite this Kisakot Campsite in 2015. The 2015 earthquake destroyed partially this home stay and it was relocated somewhere. However the signboard along the highway to this home stay remain standing by the road side to guide visitor to this MELANGKAP HOME STAY. Google Maps still direct GPS to this old original location instead of to the new location. In case you follow the road signboard to here and found an empty field instead MELANGKAP HOME STAY, you can just walk across the road to this new KISAKOT CAMPSITE after 2015.

Paramat Garden
 is only 3 Km further up the same road from Polumpung Melangkap.
