The 12 Shell Life Saving Rules

1 Work with a valid work permit when required
2 Conduct gas tests when required
3 Verify isolation before work begins and use the specified life protecting equipment
4 Obtain authorisation before entering a confined space
5 Obtain authorisation before overriding or disabling safety critical equipment
6 Protect yourself against a fall when working at height
7 Do not walk under a suspended load
8 Do not smoke outside designated smoking areas
9 No alcohol or drugs while working or driving
10 While driving, do not use your phone and do not exceed speed limits
11 Wear your seat belt
12 Follow prescribed Journey Management Plan

Failure to comply with any of this Shell Life-Saving Rules will result in disciplinary action.

For employees of contractors or sub-contractors, this means removal from site, project team and disqualification from future project.

Shell Malaysia Downstream Scholarship Scheme (For Degree students only)

Eligibility Criteria

West Malaysian only
Below 23 years old
Excel in extra-curricular activities
Combined parents' basic salary/income of not more than RM3,000 per month
Not presently holding other scholarships/loans (including PTPTN)
STPM/A'Levels - At least 2B's in any of the core subjects inclusive of General Paper (Pengajian Am)
Matriculation/Diploma/Foundation Year/Year 1 - Obtain CGPA - 3 and above

Amount Of Award & Duration

The scholarship amounts to RM7,800 per year and an annual home passage

35 young Sabahans to receive full scholarships from Shell Malaysia to pursue their pre-university or first-degree studies at approved institutions locally and abroad.
Shell Malaysia also presented bursaries to 82 students who had achieved excellent academic results in the 2011 Penilaian Menengah Rendah.
In 2012 Shell Malaysia had committed RM10 million towards its scholarship programme for talented students across Malaysia.

Shell Malaysia Exploration (SM-EP) Scholarship (For Degree students only)

Eligibility Criteria

Sarawakians and Sabahans who are enrolled in Curtin First Year Engineering Degree programme
Below 23 years old
Excel in extra-curricular activities
Combined parents' Basic Salary/Income of not more than RM3, 000 per month
Full-time Degree students enrolled at Curtin Sarawak Malaysia (CSM)
Not presently holding other scholarships/loans (including PTPTN)
No other sibling currently holding Shell Scholarship
STPM/A'Levels - At least 2B's in any of the core subjects inclusive of General Paper (Pengajian Am)
Matriculation/Diploma/Foundation Year/Year 1 - Obtain CGPA - 3 and above
Applicants to liaise directly with Shell for details
