About Borneo's Flora
Borneo's rainforests are among the oldest in the world, dating back 130 million years. This incredible age has allowed for the evolution of an exceptionally diverse flora with high levels of endemism. The island's tropical vegetation includes:
- Carnivorous plants like the famous pitcher plants (Nepenthes)
- The world's largest flower, Rafflesia arnoldii
- Trees that can reach over 60 meters in height
- Thousands of orchid species, many found nowhere else on Earth
